I'm curious about the history behind the whole British betraying the Cosaks thing. If they surrendered in Austria, for them to be "sent back to Stalin" would imply that unlike actual nazi soldiers when the war ended who were mostly just told to go home, the Allies held all of them and facilitated transportation back to Russia. Also, that's assuming we were dealing with soldiers, according Zukoski they were civilians. I didn't think the Allied Armies could hold civilians as POWs internment camps in the US not withstanding).

When a scene is this funny and well done the first thing I always wonder about is how much fun they had shooting it. Brosnan and Coltrane must've been cracking up a lot when they read the script and when they shot it.

This is one of the best scenes in a Bond film. It has humor, grit, violent intent, and builds the story of the dark world relationship between Bond and his adversaries. Gives us a feel for the small circles the agents of the world run in and out of. It also reveals the ties that bind the profession.
